Final project presentations (15 points)

Each presentation will be 10 minutes long. Come prepared and don't waste any time. This is a chance for you to demonstrate your speaking skills by using the grammar that you know so far. You will NOT be allowed to read, even though it is OK for you to have guiding phrases/vocab. Use Renee's presentation as a model - simple, straightforward, using own words and just beautiful. The points will be distributed as follows:

(1) Fluency - 3 pts

(2) Grammar - 5 pts. Avoid the "obvious" grammatical mistakes. All agreement as well as tense and derivational mistakes will be penalized.

(3) Cultural content and quality of the materials presented - 4 pts

(4) General organization and aesthetics - 2 pts

(5) Other - 1 pt.

Final Projects (25 points)

These are supposed to be SERIOUS projects that fully demonstrate your Swahili ability up to this point. That is why I stopped giving you quizzes and exams so that you can devote all your time and energy on them. I will grade them very keenly.

Miradi yote (minimum 8 pages) iliyochapwa vyema ni lazima iletwe kwangu Jumatano tarehe 28/4/2010. Lete "hard copy" Grinter 325 kuanzia asubuhi mpaka saa 11 jioni. Pia tuma "attachment" kupitia profesamatondo@gmail.com. Katika project ninataka kuona mambo yafuatayo:

(1) Uwezo wako wa kuandika Kiswahili sanifu (Standard Swahili)
(2) Matumizi sanifu ya sarufi. You will lose points for "obvious" grammatical mistakes
(3) Demonstrate your masterly of the grammar that we have seen in this year e.g. all the derivational morphemes like causatives, applicatives, passives, statives etc.
(4) Mambo ya kitamaduni. You will be rewarded for bringing in cultural issues from both Shida and Ndoto ya Amerika. This will act as your extra credit!

Important: Use pictures and diagrams only here and there. You should aim at 15 pages (with few diagrams). It will not help you to have 8 pages (double spaced with a lot of pictures + grammatical mistakes). This will simply not work!!!
